Google’s Advice To Writers Using AI
As long as the content is high-quality and puts people first, it will be rewarded. This is Google's position in regards to AI generated content.
The world of writing has changed significantly over the past few years, and AI has been at the forefront of this change. With the recent popularity of AI-powered text generators like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Jasper AI, most are now wondering what Google's position is on AI-generated content.
Recently, Google's AI research team offered some valuable advice to writers who use AI writing tools.
Will Google penalize AI-generated content?
To answer the question directly, Google will reward high-quality content, in any way it was produced.
In an article from Google’s Search Central, they made a couple of important key points regarding the guidance about AI-generated content.

Google’s Advice To Writers
Focus on people-first content
To achieve success in Google Search, it is important for content creators to prioritize the production of original, high-quality content that prioritizes people and showcases qualities such as expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness, regardless of how the content is produced.
Think in terms of Who, How, and Why
Who — clearly indicate who created the content. Add accurate authorship information, such as bylines, to content where readers might expect it.
How— Let your readers know how the content was produced. Disclose if the content was generated through AI or automation to help readers better understand any unique and useful role automation may have served.
Why — Why did you create the content in the first place? Your why should be that you want to primarily help people, or make your content useful to visitors to your site.
What Creators Should Know About
In another article published in September last year, Google explained that content will be rewarded as long as it is written for people and not search engines.
Here are a few important things to keep in mind:
Does your content clearly demonstrate first-hand expertise and a depth of knowledge?
After reading your content, will someone leave feeling they’ve learned enough about a topic to help achieve their goal?
Will someone reading your content leave feeling like they’ve had a satisfying experience?
Put these into consideration when writing content, and you’ll surely get a good search ranking, with or without AI’s assistance.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, the debate on AI-generated content may still be going on, but Google's position is clear: as long as the content is high-quality and puts people first, it will be rewarded.
